Watchers

I have a very small monitor at home and a large monitor at work. At home, the graph's sections are VERY narrow and long. It's easier to read the data under the top picture.

On your home page you have a picture of a child with information to the right. At home, the picture overlays half of the graph. I can't see what the links say. At work, the picture was completely to the left of the graph.

I made my history online 660 px wide because if it was any wider I'd have to scroll back and forth to read it at home. Thus, it would be better to put a history under a picture instead of next to it, if the template is wider than 660 px.

The first time my history was put online was by a host of RootsWeb. I was told it was best to link pictures, not to put them on the main page, since the history is long (about 55 pages). It would take too long to load. Due to making the pictures links, I then had the option to add pictures from other sites online. The First History

Thus, it would work better if people stick to short summaries of a person's life with a minimal amount of pictures, such as this history being constructed.

I supposed it also matters how much a person puts on a page and how they want it to look. The last template didn't work for the blog about my life being constructed. I wanted a picture included with each year without having to click on a link.

In the first one above that is in greens & white, there is a link in the header that leads to a page that has a graph and other links.

Maybe if those here take a look to see what the links tie to, they can come up with what they would like here in the future.

It would be nice to view a pedigree or family group record, then be able to click on the name and get a page with a picture and summary. Multiple links for each person would probably be too much. I think clicking on a name such as a group sheet, have a picture with a summary underneath, then a link to more indebt information would work (I'm thinking of others who also are doing genealogy on a shoestring and have old equipment).

thanks. I didn't think about older monitors. I'll see what I can do.--sq 11:20, 24 August 2006 (MDT)
