Published 1872. Contains many names and much Methodist Church information; some stories. Indexed. The author was a big part of early Texas Methodism, but keeps himself in the background.

From the introduction: "Though this is entitled 'Methodism in Texas,' the general Christian reader will find nothing offensively denominational. There is no glorification of Methodism, either in its doctrinal system or economic arrangements. Very little is said in praise of living men, and there is no fulsome adulation even of those deceased. Their labors are noticed, and the results written. ... There is one department of this volume which will, we trust, be found of special interest -- the record of triumphant deaths.... a pathway leading and luring us onward and heavenward."
