The Archives acquired this collection in 1961 (Accession no. P-1985-4). In 1977, Winston De Ville was employed to catalog Louisiana's colonial documents in the possession of the State Archives, in the process of which he was responsible for the creation of two major finding aids: The Opelousas Post, 1764-1789: a Guide to the St. Landry Parish Archives Deposited at the Louisiana State Archives and Calendar of Documents of the Opelousas Post, 1764-1789.
