An ongoing project of the Illinois State Archives, this index is much less complete than its post-1916 companion or the statewide marriage index: "Data entry is complete through December 1915 for 14 of the 102 counties in Illinois. This database includes death data from 35 counties in Illinois and currently contains over 1,082,000 records." However, Cook County, the largest in population in the state and including Chicago, is complete. --Hh219 21:16, 25 April 2007 (MDT)
