Usage Tips

William Hayden (d.1669) emigrated in 1630 from England (probably from Devon) to Dorchester, Massachusetts. He married twice and moved by 1640 to Hartford and then Windsor, Connecticut. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Colorado and elsewhere.

The author was born in 1811 and lived in the Haydens area through the end of the century. So while the book is not directly sourced, much of the material on lines remaining in that area was essentially contemporary at the time or obtainable from those with personal knowledge.
