Genealogy of the Grant and Cumming families that came to America in 1777. The Grant families and the Cumming family intermarried. Their descendants listed lived in New York, Connecticut, Ohio, Indiana, California, Missouri, Oklahoma, Washington, Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas, Montana, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

Donald Grant (b. 1750), a native of Inverness, Scotland, married Elizabeth Cumming, daughter of Duncan and Isabella Cumming of Tullochgorum, Scotland, ca. 1770. They had six children; the first born in Inverness in 1771. The family immigrated to America in 1777 and settled near Catskill, New York.

John Grant (1715-1792) and Margaret Cumming, both natives of Inverness, were married in 1745. They had four children, 1747-after 1767, born in Scotland. The family immigrated to America in 1777 and settled six miles west of Catskill, New York.

Alexander Grant (1762-1832), fourth child of John and Margery Cumming Grant, immigrated to America with his family in 1777. He married Jane Thompson (1765-1869). They had six children, 1789-1808.

Duncan Cumming lived and died at Tullochgorum, Scotland. He and his wife, Isabella Cumming Cumming, had nine children. Isabella Cumming immigrated to America in 1777, with her children, and settled near Catskill, New York. She died in 1807.
