Usage Tips

FamilySearch scanned copy

The scanned copy is described as "Electronic reporoduction. Salt Lake City, Utah: FamilySearch International, 2014".

The best approach is to search the full text content in the case of Volume 1. Volume 2 is primarily a biography compendium. Volume 2 contains a "Historical Index" which has many placenames, and a biographical index, from which the list of surnames has been transcribed. Page numbers in the index do not align well with physical page numbers of the scanned copy due to illustrations and blank facing pages associated with the illustrations. Page numbering is continuous between the two volumes; Volume 2 begins at page 643.

Proofreading

The list of surnames transcribed from the source was proofread 3 Jan 2022.
