The author uses records from the various parishes in the Nantes area to reconstruct the Acadian families who lived in the area from 1775 and the collapse of the Poitou experiment until 1785 when they migrated en masse to Louisiana. He also follows the few families who stayed behind in Nantes into the nineteenth century.
