Description

The book is divided into two principal sections. The first comprising pages 1 through 318 is Blake's work. The second (pp 319-501) is entitled "The Descendants of Jasper Blake of Hampton, N.H." by Jasper Derby (1879). Blake states, in part, the following concerning the Derby manuscript:

"The preceding is as exact a copy as I could make of the 501 handwritten pages of manuscript by Perley Derby. Script has been used to set this section apart from the rest of the book. Errors have not been corrected (bold emphasis added). Words or phrases which were crossed out in the original manuscript have been omitted from the above..."
