the following text is based on an article in Wikipedia

St Peter the Great is a suburb of the City of Worcester in Worcestershire, England. It is almost due south of the city centre, on the east side of the River Severn, and due south of the Cathedral. It has a growing population which was recorded as 5,620 in 2001.

The parish is named after the church of St Peter the Great. The parish of the church was divided into parts - St Peter the Great City and St Peter the Great County. The former was merged eventually with other Worcester parishes to form a united civil parish St Peter the Great County Parish Council, whilst the latter was annexed to the city of Worcester under the Local Government Act 1972, in 1974, having previously formed part of Pershore Rural District.
