Small cemetery located next to the Tabernacle Baptist Church on the corner of Charles and Craven streets in Beaufort, SC. The cemetery sits to the right of the church with some headstones located in the parking lot to the rear of the church building.

US Congressman Robert Smalls is buried here in his family's plot.

Some history of the Tabernacle Baptist Church

Tabernacle Church was formed by black members of Beaufort Baptist Church after other members evacuated the area because of Federal occupation at the start of the Civil war in 1861. The church's lecture room was used for services during the war.

In 1867 the black congregation bought this property from the Beaufort Baptist Church. It's present building was dedicated in 1894. Many new churches have grown from the Tabernacle.

A Church Historical Marker was erected by Beaufort County Council in 1980.
