"In 1865 [Calvin] Prosser had set aside one acre for a cemetery in Ellsworth Township. Over the years, 60 people were buried there.
"In 1923 a marble shaft marked Prosser's grave and in 1934 three headstones marked the resting places of Prosser, Russell Stillman and Mrs. Prosser.
"Three of the graves were moved to Oak Hill Cemetery - those of Prosser, Stillman and Anna Prosser, Calvin's daughter.
"Others buried in the Prosser cemetery were Elmer Overen, buried [Sep] 1937; a Luikart boy; Rhodes twins; two unidentified farmhands; two Civil War veterans; a 10-year-old boy; a 12-year-old girl; Mrs. Crumb; Mr. Goff; Mr. Gilbert; Mr. Bauf; Mr. and Mrs. Hansen and two Hansen children; and Mr. Jorgenson. The remains of Mrs. Chambers were taken from the middle of the road when the county was grading there and then replaced in the cemetery." - Estherville News: Can you dig it?
