The park, along with Fox’s Marsh and Honey Point state wildlife areas, totaling 593 acres, were purchased with state funds and federal grants. North Bass Island State Park is available for primitive camping (special permit required), bicycling, hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and other low-impact outdoor activities. Fishing is permitted in appropriate areas along the state park’s 3.5 miles of shore. Trails are planned to connect points of interest. North Bass is the northernmost island in Ottawa County. It is located 18 miles from the Ohio mainland and less than two miles from the Canadian border. It is accessible via personal watercraft and airplane. There is no public dockage available.
