Mason County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 16,800. Its county seat is Maysville6. The county is named for George Mason, a Virginia delegate to the U.S. Constitutional Convention, known as the "Father of the Bill of Rights". Mason County was partitioned from Bourbon County, Kentucky by an act of the Kentucky Legislature in 1788.
