Lukulu is a [large and busy 1-[market town]] in the Western Province of Zambia, on the Zambezi River, and headquarters of a district of the same name. Access to the town is limited to only a few graded roads with traffic running through it from Kaoma town to Watopa town. Fish from the river provide most of the local diet, and some are exported to other parts of Zambia away from the river. The town has very beautiful Zambezi River water front and sandy beaches. The locals call it the Home of plenty. The town has mango trees that grow naturally, all over turning the sandy beaches green. Lukulu is an emerging town with electricity and water. You will find modern lodges with air conditioned rooms equal to those in Lusaka but at very low cost. The people are humble and friendly while the sound of makishi drums pulsate the air during the day and at night time. For those seeking adventure visit to this quiet bubbling town is best done after the rains end in April to November. There is a modern hosipital, and both primary and high schools with some established by the original missionaries, which have birthed many important Zambians. Like any town Lukulu also has a nightlife and a strong church presence. For women who wish to visit, carry a Chitenge (traditional cloth), as a wrap round. The Northern part has a very old royal village called Sangaulu which was first village of the Queen Mwambwa who founded Barotseland.
