Kincardine is a large parish at the foot of the Dornoch Firth located in the Highland Council Area, some 13 miles (21 km) southwest of Lairg and 18 miles (28 km) east of Ullapool in Highland. Prior to 1975 the parish was located in the old county of Ross and Cromarty, which was replaced in that year by the Highland Region and in 1996 by the unitary authority named the Highland Council Area. The parish is on the former border with the county of Sutherland. The parish has an area of 623.4 sq. km (240.7 sq. miles). As well as a hamlet named Kincardine and another hamlet named Croick, it includes the settlements of Achnahanat, Ardchronie, Upper Ardchronie, Ardgay, Ardgayhill, Culrain, Dounie, Langwell, Lower Gledfield and Lubcroy. All of these have been redirected here.
Ardgay (Scottish Gaelic: Àird Gaoith or Àird Ghaoithe) is a small Scottish village on the south west shore of the Dornoch Firth and lies at the entrance to Strathcarron, the valley of the River Carron. The hamlet of Kincardine (Scottish Gaelic: Cinn Chàrdainn) lies less than 1 mile south east along the A836 coast road. According to Wikipedia the parish is considered to be in Sutherland since the changes to the municipal structure in 1996.
