Karlshamn stad was a city municipality in Blekinge län,southern Sweden.

Karlshamn received a Royal Charter and city privileges in 1664, when King Charles X Gustav realized the strategic location near the Baltic Sea and the rivalling Danish troops there. In 1666 the town changed its name from Bodekull to Karlshamn, literally Karl's Port.

The amalgamation of the units in the area took place in 1967 when the Karlshamns stad was merged with Asarums landskommun, Hällaryds landskommun and Mörrums landskommun to form Karlshams kommun. The whole territory had formally city status until 1971, when all local government units in Sweden became municipalities of unitary type.
