Research Tips

The truth is, nobody really knows the origin of the name Gnawbone. There are multiple stories attributing it to "seeing someone gnawing on a bone" in the area of the settlement. The French origin has been disputed in "History and Families 1836-1990 Brown County, Indiana". I have been interested in this subject for many years because my grandfather was born near Gnawbone.--User:JuliaCarl
