A hamlet in Dumfries and Galloway, Gelston or Gilston lies 2 miles (3 km) south of Castle Douglas. Gelston Castle dates from about 1805 and was the home of Sir William Douglas who laid out Castle Douglas.

Gelston was located in the parish of Kelton in the former County of Kirkcudbrightshire in southwest Scotland. This area is now part of the unitary authority called the Dumfries & Galloway Council Area.
