Divided from Dunstable, Massachusetts when the King of England redrew the boundary between Massachusetts and New Hampshire in 1746. Renamed Town of Nashua in 1836. From 1842 to 1853, the piece north of the Nashua River split off and named itself Nashville. The two pieces were reunified in 1853 as the City of Nashua.
