Coppell (pronounced cop-PELL) is a city in Dallas County, Texas, a suburb and bedroom community of the DFW Metroplex. The population was 35,958 at the 2000 census. A small area in the far northern portion of the city extends into neighboring Denton County. High traffic streets include Bethel rd, Sandy Lake rd, Denton Tap rd, Park Way and Bethel School. Bethel rd and Bethel School rd are named for the Bethel family, a prominent family that has lived in the area for centuries. Brian Bethel currently resides in Coppell and plays an important role in the cities politics.
