Castor township is one of the three original townships created in 1818 at the time the county was organized; it was named for Castor River (q.v.). Changes were made in the boundaries in 1846, and in 1909 the boundaries of all the municipal townships were redefined. (Douglass I 167, County Court Record) - Source: Hamlett, Mayme L.
