Buford (Jacket Territory or Jacket Country, named after the school system's mascot) is an unincorporated community in Lancaster County, South Carolina, United States. It lies at the intersection of South Carolina Highways 9 and 522.

Buford was the site of the Waxhaw Massacre during the American Revolutionary War.


The community has several convenience stores, most notable, Buford Express at the "Buford Crossroads" and Buford Little General across from Buford Elementary and Middle Schools.

A Dollar General is open now, since spring 2010.
