Borley is a village and civil parish on the northern border of Essex, England. It is located on the River Stour. The closest town is Sudbury, Suffolk, approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) southeast of Borley; the county town of Chelmsford is 39km (24 miles) south-southwest. The village is in the Braintree District. The neighbouring parishes are Foxearth, Belchamp Walter and Bulmer.

The parish consists of two hamlets, Borley around the church, and Borley Green, to the east. A smaller parish, Borley Parva, was joined with Foxearth in the Middle Ages. The population of the village, being less that 100, is included in the neighbouring civil parish of Cavendish in Suffolk.
