Boone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 54,165, which is an increase of 29.6% from 41,786 in 2000. Its county seat is Belvidere.
Boone County is one of two counties included in the Rockford, Metropolitan Statistical Area and is adjacent to the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Boone County was formed in 1837 out of Winnebago County. It was named for Kentucky frontiersman Daniel Boone.
