Athelstan was a village in the canton of Hinchinbrook in the historical county of Huntingdon.

"ATHELSTAN, a post village in Huntingdon co., Que., on the Hinchinbrooke River, and on the St. Lawrence & Adirondack R. R., 5½ miles from Huntingdon. It contains a Presbyterian church, flour mill, oatmeal mill, cheese factory, agricultural implement factory, 2 stores and telegraph office. The neighborhood is well settled and the farms well cultivated, the land being worth from $20 to $75 per acre. Pop. 350."
