Bishops-Stortford vs. Bishop's Stortford [2 February 2009]

Oh pooh. I've seen both used, and it looked like WeRelate preferred the hyphenated over the apostrophe'd so I've been changing them all to hyphens; now I see, Susan, that you're changing them back. Personally, I don't care which it is, as long as we're consistent. But we should find out what the "official" place name is. -- jillaine 00:05, 2 February 2009 (EST)

Hi,
I have a number of relatives from Bishop's Stortford and the only place I have seen the hyphen is in NEHGR. WeRelate gives two options but with Bishops-Stortford it say "unknown"
As for the parents of Tobias Chandler, NEHGR article in 1931 placed him as the son of John. I did a google search and there is nothing currently available to dispute that relationship. The notion of the father being Thomas came with a GEDCOM uploaded about Jan. 9, 2009 with no sources.

Thanks for the explanation; I'll start converting them to apostrophes as I'm working on these pages. And I'll delink the undocumented parentage of Tobias. Are you a Denison descendant? or a William Chandler descendant? My husband is descended from William Denison's and Margaret Chandler's son George. jillaine 01:38, 2 February 2009 (EST)
