The literature has both John Kent and Andrew Stickney, both of Newbury, each marrying a woman named Rebecca Somerby, Stickney sometime bef 1693; Kent sometime before 1696. There is one Rebecca Somerby of record, posthumous daughter of Abiel Somerby and Rebecca Knight, born June 1672. There is no record of either marriage, and no reference that I can find to a probate or land record which would indicate which, if either, of these two men was married to the daughter of Abiel Somerby. Apparently the only other Rebecca Somerby prior to 1700 is the widow of Abiel Somerby who (1) married one Nicholas Wallis in 1692, and (2) was born 1642/3 and therefore unlikely to be bearing children in the 1690s. --jaques1724 14:25, 6 May 2013 (EDT)

Rebecca is mentioned in the will of her grandfather, Anthony Somerby, but it was written in 1685 and therefore does not give her married name.--jaques1724 18:29, 6 May 2013 (EDT)
