Person talk:Mary Wright (37)

Not listed as a daughter of Captain Wright in source [20 July 2013]

Working with GMB, I don't see a daughter Mary listed. The closest thing I see is that Richard Wright's 2nd wife '(2) By about 1643 _____ _____, possibly a widow Sabin, mother of William Sabin of Rehoboth [TAG 67:37].'. Some confusion here?--Daniel Maxwell 18:38, 20 July 2013 (EDT)

Apparently, William Sabin mentioned his "father-in-law" Richard Wright in a deed. This could have meant either his step-father or the father of his wife. Richard LeBaron Bowen, in Early Rehoboth: Documented Historical Studies of Families and Events in This Plymouth Colony Township [1945-50], cited by Gale Ion Harris (TAG 67:37), "adopted the latter construction and postulated an otherwise unknown daughter for Richard Wright, Sabin's first wife, also unknown." Gale Ion Harris, on the other hand, proposed that since it appears that Richard Wright was married at least twice, he may have been William Sabin's step-father.
This page (Mary Wright) follows Bowen's assumption. (I don't know where the "Mary" comes from - I suspect someone inserted it as a common name, like "Jane Doe".) I'll leave it to others to review and determine whether to change WeRelate to conform to Harris's proposal, as I am not that familiar with this family.--DataAnalyst 18:59, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
