Person talk:Mary Prescott (1)

Bad death date [19 March 2010]

I removed the death date of 28 Oct 1735. This comes from the cited AFN. How can the author of this AFN say that Mary married Benjamin Farnsworth and then give her the death date of Mary Prescott (per Groton VRs)? Doh! The death record should be Mary Farnsworth (which, incidentally, is not found in Groton VRs). Obviously this death date belongs to Mary's mother, as anybody who used the age at death to estimate a birth would find out. So if the AFN record is accepted by familysearch.org when put together by somebody this lazy, how reliable can any AFN be? And why would you ever trust a AFN without validating all the data yourself? Which means, you can only use them for ideas to be subsequently researched and proven by real genealogy, never as proof that any fact is true. --Jrich 11:32, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
