Welcome to page [20 October 2010]

Hello Mr Smith,

Glad to have someone else working the page. This is a line of my late wife and our children via the Bourie's

They have many interesting references being early settlers and related to the Indian tribes.

Is this one of your lines?

Only very (extremely) indirectly. I have a Sapp line, and one of my distant Sapp connections married into the Ferrys, and one of them connects to the Bouries. But I get interested in a family (whether I'm really connected to it or not) and pursue all the more distant connections just to see what turns up. That's especially true when they're Hoosiers or Texans or Kentuckians, since I have a lot of experience with genealogy in all those places. (I've been doing this stuff a very long time!) By the way, I was considering going into a number of the Bourie pages and cleaning up the way the data is entered -- because of all the red links -- but you may want to do that yourself. --MikeTalk 08:13, 20 October 2010 (EDT)

Mike, Thanks for the reply. I read your Bio. I see you are very experienced. I too started on Roots back about 1991-92 on the early internet. I didn't realize Dick Eastman was one of the organizers at that stage. I subscribe to his newsletter today. Do you recall Cliff Manis and his search sites? I haven't heard from him for a while but enjoyed all the Unix apps associated with his site. Sorry your connection to the Bourie line is remote. I was looking forward to some joint effort on some of the pages I have set up. I did try to work on one of the "red" Place pages, the Bloody Run page. I could not figure out the issues. Bloody Run is just an area of Detroit today where the battle with Chief Pontiac took place. At the time of their births, I suppose it was more descriptive of location. The old quote of NE bank of Detroit River must be in error however. It is NE Detroit, but NW bank of the Detroit river. My wife and I lived in the Detroit area a few years but before we found out her ancestors also came from there. She only knew the Indiana connection of her father at that time.

Cheers, Buddy
