Birth Date [11 January 2012]

The Vital records shown here and for a possible brother also named John have the same 10 September day with different years. One entry seems to be in error either in the cited day or the citation, one giving 1 September and the other 10 September. It is possible that the first born John died within a year and the second born son was also named John. If so there should be a death record?

The Probate records, shown below, for his father's estate seem to add to the confusion of the son, John Newman's birth date. Note that the "10 September" day shows up as the birthday of the son Samuell!?

(Salem, Massachusetts: The Essex Institute, 1916, 1917, 1920). - The names of the children Mr, Antipas Newman left at his decease, Mar, 27, 1673: John Newman, 12 years of age, 7th December, last; Samuell, 6 years, 10th Sept., last; Elizabeth, 4 years, June 15 last; Sibel, 3 years, 10th of ye instant March; Waytstill, one year, 13th Dec. last.

- Elizabeth Endicott formerly widow of Mr, Antipas Newnnan late of Wenham, and administratrix of his estate, finding that she is incapable for management of so great a business, petitions the court Dec. 2, 1680, that her eldest son John Newman, who is now come to years, may be made executor with her.--B.holmes 10:24, 11 January 2012 (EST)
