Birth certificates and Birth index listings [30 July 2021]

These are not the same. A birth certificate should give the exact date of birth and the names of the parents. There is a charge to find out this information.

The Birth register index only gives a Volume and Page number, the quarter of the year in which the birth occurred, and the registration district. This is available free online at a website named "FreeBMD".

Do not describe an index listing as a Birth Certificate.
