Person talk:James Cobb (2)

The source Source:White, Elizabeth Pearson. John Howland of the Mayflower, p. 69 was removed.

This source was cited but is not available online so has not been verified. The dates submitted with this source were wrong and whether the source is wrong or the posting miscopied them is unknown. It seemed more appropriate to remove it and refute it in a discussion, since every date appeared misposted, so nothing was left on the page that relied on it.

A baptism of 8 Jul 1673 was removed since the record found in Barnstable VRs says "born", and Source:Barnstable, Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States. Church Records, 1639-1892, p. 91, notes "Baptisms in the interval between 26 Oct 1653 ... and Sept. 19, 1683 ... are supposed lost."

The death date of 3 May 1759 was removed, the most feasible explanation that it is a corruption of the death date of sister Hannah (Cobb) Hallett, 3 May 1739, perhaps miscopied from some genealogy who listed her one line above James? Other secondary sources give various death dates for James (1739, 1756, 1759, more?) but the cited church record appears to be the only verifiable primary record.
