Person talk:Isabel Browne (1)

Birth information added has been disproven [27 August 2012]

The birth information added depends on Isabel being the daughter of the Mayflower passenger, which has been disproved. To the user who added it - do you have source or proof? Find A Grave isnt a source in itself unless there is an existing grave, which there isnt in this case. The owner of the memorial wrongly kept the old 'Mayflower' birth information. --Daniel Maxwell 20:10, 22 August 2012 (EDT)

Daniel, I agree. Isabel is not the daughter of Peter Brown and Martha Ford. But the date of birth [9 Jun 1636] is after the death of Peter and Martha, and appears quite possible. But I can't find a source. Should we indicate that the birth date is questionable, or remove it altogether?--Gunnj 06:48, 23 August 2012 (EDT)

Quite a bit has been written about this couple. That date depends on her being a daughter of the Mayflower passenger, which has been disproved some time ago. Ergo, I would remove it.--Daniel Maxwell 07:00, 23 August 2012 (EDT)

OK, that's done. Thanks for the quick help on this.--Gunnj 07:03, 23 August 2012 (EDT)

No problem. Typically, I add an estimate on the DOB based on the birth dates of her children. Probably best to ask expierences users for help with this.

If you need any help with your lines that involve lookups, just let me know. I see you're a Gunn. Might yours be the line of Dr. Jasper Gunn? Ive done quite a bit of work on his family on the cite, its well sourced through the first generation.--Daniel Maxwell 07:05, 23 August 2012 (EDT)

My family line is the Thomas Gunn line. Thomas is my 7th great grandfather, and one of the founders of Windsor, Connecticut, with a homelot two lots south of that of John Hoskins. The relationship is still more complex: Jane Hoskins married Jeremiah Alford, another early resident of Windsor, and my 6th great grandfather. If you're interested, you can trace my line in WeRelate from my grandfather, Irwin Simpson Gunn to Thomas Gunn. The Alford line goes from my great grandmother, Helen Caroline Alford, down to Jeremiah.

As you probably know, the Jasper and Thomas lines get confused sometimes, especially after the Revolutionary War. I only discovered a few years ago that I'm a 10th generation American. The research into my ancestors is fascinating, and I'm learning a lot about American history in the process.--Gunnj 11:27, 23 August 2012 (EDT)

Peter Brown (4 Oct 1632-9 Mar 1692). See tombstone in Palisado Cemetery in Windsor, Connecticut: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=8069528. Names one of his 8 daughters Isabel. Isn't this a likely sibling of Isabel Brown who died in Windsor in 1698? Unfortunately, Peter's parentage seems as much in doubt as Isabel's.--Gunnj 17:28, 27 August 2012 (EDT)
