Source:Smith, Tenney. Charles Smith and Rachel Amy Bryant : Their Ancestors and Descendants, p. 109, says Samuel Babcock, s/o Robert and Joanna Babcock, bp. Dorchester 7 Jul 1650 m. 1 July 1674 Hannah Ames, d/o William and Hannah Ames of Braintree, b. 12 May 1641, d. 12 Nov 1723. This is clearly incompatible with a marriage to John Hayden.
