Person talk:George Morrow (1)

George Morrow b. 1780 [20 April 2012]

Could Robert's son George be the same George Morrow who traveled through GA and TN before settling in Lawrence County, Alabama? I have long suspected that George married a Frances Shaw because his son is named John Shaw Morrow. Now I'm thinking George named his son after his mother, Elizabeth Shaw Morrow. George did die before his mother. He is not present in the 1840 Census and his estate was finalized in 1843 by the dispersal of his property to his children. His children then all sold their shares back to John Shaw Morrow. I have a ton of information on George's descendants and would LOVE to be able to define his relationship to other Morrows. I don't know any direct male descendants, but I would be willing to help track some down.--Erinspice 12:56, 16 April 2012 (EDT)

Hi Erin. I can't say about the connection, except that this would be a perfect DNA opportunity, since two other sons of Robert have descendants in the project. Is John Shaw the John S. who married Martha Killam in 1839? I've tracked him through census records, but don't have him connected to anyone.--Amelia 01:47, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

Yes, John S. and John Shaw are the same. I have real estate records which describe transactions which took place after George's death. Many of his children inherited parcels of land when George died, and many of them sold their parcels to John Shaw immediately. I would be happy to share my sources if you will email me at erin@spiceland.org. I would love to find someone who could participate in the DNA test. George's son Melito is my closest male Morrow ancestor, though, so no one I know personally could take the test.--Erinspice 16:42, 20 April 2012 (EDT)
