death date [30 April 2011]

I am not sure where the death date "22 Dec 1768" came from, as the Haverhill VR do not give such a death record. In fact, the Haverhill VR shows "Mitchel, Ebenezer, 2d m., and wid. Joanna Merrill, Oct. 18, 1777. [Oct. 23, CR3]". Since the marriage of "Ebenezer, jr." is shown 6 Apr 1777, there is virtually no situation where he would be remarrying that soon, it is clearly indicated as a second marriage, to a widow, so it has to be the father, i.e., he was alive in 1777, almost 9 years later. --Jrich 09:35, 30 April 2011 (EDT)

The death date is probably a bookkeeping error, since Sarah, his wife, her gravestone says she d. 22 Dec 1768. --Jrich 10:31, 30 April 2011 (EDT)
I concur, at least as far the death is concerned. Regarding Sarah's death, is your gravestone cite from the inscription itself or one of the two records in Haverhill VR. The one taken from West Parish Cemetery records is cited in Haverhill VR as 23 Dec; the other record, without other source indication is, I believe, meant to be taken as a TC record, and is 22 Dec.--Brear47 15:42, 30 April 2011 (EDT)
Haverhill VR. 22 Dec is labeled GR3, Ancient West Parish Cemetery, while 23 Dec has no source indication. It's not actually important, the point being that somebody clearly recorded Sarah's death for Ebenezer, what ever is the source of the record for 22 Dec. --Jrich 18:07, 30 April 2011 (EDT)
