Fought in French and Indian War. Named his son Lake after the fact taht during the F&I war he was on Lake George at the time. Jacobus says the youngest son was "Luke", not "Lake", FANH 6:1474.

Removed to Cape Breton during French war (Potter book) Could hardly have been in Nova Scotia if he was fighting the French in northern New York.

Since he was on Lake George, was he at the infamous battle at Fort WIlliam Henry? (of Last of the Mohican's fame?) Which battle? Sir William Johnson "defeated" Baron Dieskau there in 1755. Montcalm defeated Colonel Monro in 1757 and his Indians massacred an indeterminate number of soldiers and civilians after the surrender. This is the "Last of the Mohicans" battle. Since the youngest son was born in 1759 [see the story about his baptismal name above], it is possible that Daniel was at Lake George then and for neither of the battles.--jaques1724 19:46, 29 October 2012 (EDT)
