Person talk:Abigail Pratt (10)

origins of myth [20 February 2012]

I am still not sure what the origins of the myth described in the note below (brought from the Person page) are, but have not found any information to support and am changing this page to say Abigail Pratt.

Both "Records of First Church of Scituate", MD, p. 11:45, and Source:Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records to the Year 1850, p. 2:111, name Benjamin's wife as Abigail Pratt. They are not entirely independent, both ultimately relying on the minister's records. Source:Eddy, Charles. Genealogy of the Eddy Family, p. 15, and Source:Wakefield, Robert S. Peter Brown of the Mayflower and His Descendants for Four Generations, p. 46, plus several other sources name his wife as Abigail Hathaway. I have not yet found an explanation to this discrepancy. Did Abigail have a prior marriage? No sources give her name as Abigail (Hathaway) Pratt, or Abigail (Hathaway) (Pratt) Eddy, suggesting this is not the case. Who are her parents? Is this an error in the Scituate records? Is the Benjamin Eddy of Scituate different than Benjamin Eddy of Bridgewater (the dates sure work well)? --Jrich 17:55, 6 March 2010 (EST)

If it had not been for Wakefield I would have done this long ago. --Jrich 10:10, 20 February 2012 (EST)
