The birth date is almost certainly incorrect.

1. No sources are given
2. Abigail and Daniel married in Andover, Mass. 6 May 1717, making Abigail shy of 15 if this birth date of 1702 is to be believed.
3. The birth date 17 May 1702 in Salem, Mass., belongs to Abigail Hutchinson, d/o John Hutchinson and Mary Gould, who married Benjamin Putnam. So this appears to be naive name-matching.

Source:TAG, p. 35:47, has an article making a strong circumstantial case that Abigail is the daughter of Samuel Hutchinson of Andover. Her birth is not recorded, but her parents married 1686 or 1687, and if she was 18 at marriage, we would expect her born before 1699. --Jrich 13:08, 8 November 2012 (EST)
