Captain in Cromwell's army, fighting in Ireland. Lived near Belfast after subjugation. Wife Mary Candler was daughter of Lt. Col. William Candler of Cromwell's army, who was awared estates in Ireland. Zachariah returned to the Isle of Wight; in the spring of 1669 he and sons and daughter sailed from Southhampton on the ship "Glasgow" to Barbados, WI. Then in 1670 they joined others en route to South Carolina; later proceeded to Virginia, Somerton, Nancemond County
