According to the Dianne Pride email of 11.22.03, Woolsey I was married to a 'Rachel', who was born in abt. 1764 in Virginia. Along with his two brothers, Thomas and William, Woolsey built the first white settlement in 1800 (a fort) at White Oak Springs, Pike Co., IN. A posting by Joann Jameson on Ancestry.com in early 2000 states that Woolsey Pride and his wife were among the earliest settlers of White Oak Springs, Pike County, Indiana, in 1807. Woolsey owned the fort and stockade, and he and James Brenton were considered to be the leaders of the early community. Still another posting on 11/6/99 by Roy Fields on Ancestry.com states that Woolsey and his two brothers started the first white settlement at White Springs in 1800, and then built a fort in 1807 at the Springs, site of what is now Petersburgh, IN.
