    The Parish List for 1684 includes William Whytt of the "Milne of Whythills" among the examinable persons in Sorbie Parish. The same list includes Andrew Whytt and William Whytt, believed to be his sons, at the same location. The surname is spelled variously White, Whyte and Whytt.
