The White Monument (identified as No. 22 on the Chapple/Birchman map of the cemetery) was erected by William White "farmer and Miller in *Creech* in memory of his great grandfather William White, also farmer and miller there who died about the year 1680."

The Parish List for 1684 includes William Whytt of the "Milne of Whythills" among the examinable persons in Sorbie Parish. The same list includes Andrew Whytt and William Whytt, believed to be his sons, at the same location. The surname is spelled variously White, Whyte and Whytt.
