    FATHER
    W. A. WHEELER
    1838 - 1913

  4. The birth date of 1 Oct 1838 comes from Find A Grave, but as no basis is given and the memorial places his birth in Vermont, its credibility is suspect. No birth record has been located. Early censuses, and his marriage record, show his birth in New Hampshire, about 1838 (age 11 in 1850 as he should be). The later censuses and his death record say Vermont, but the 1900 census, in particular, is messed up in so many small ways, it would not appear to be the same person if not for the children matching.
