Lawyer and farmer, Prince was the sheriff of Knox County, Indiana from 1800-1804; a member of the Indiana Territorial Council in 1809; Indiana Territorial Auditor from 1810 to 1813; prosecuting attorney in Gibson County, 1813 and 1819; delegate to the Indiana State Constitutional Convention in 1816; circuit court judge, 1816-1818; member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1821 to 1822; and he represented Indiana's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives as a Republican from 1823 until his death in 1824. The town of Princeton, Indiana was named for him.
