Identity

FamilySearch Family Tree places this person as the son of Simeon Pennington and Nancy McGehee, probably on the strength of him being bonr in Tennessee and living, by 1850, in Lawrence County, Missouri, which appears to be where Simeon died.

His information is a bit problematic. A William P Pennington married Amanda Jane Young in 1845 in Tennessee. The 1850 census has a Will C Pennington married to an Amanda. Their presumed son Daniel is age 6, suggesting birth before the 1845 marriage. While it seems likely that the William P who married Amanda in 1845 is the same person as the William C in the 1850 census, it is not certain because of the middle initial (it would seem that the use of the middle initial may have been to distinguish one William from another).
