    ... 76) vii Captain William Andrew McCue, b 1, June 1836, "Long Meadows," Augusta county, Va. ; d 30, Aug. 1884, Wytheville, Va. ; m 12, May 1863, Mary Frances Miller (dau of Fleming Bower Miller and Elizabeth Selden), b, Fincastle, Va.; d 1902. Wm. A. McCue was graduated from Washington College (Lexington, Va.) 1859, and from a Catalogue of that institution, it is found that he was a member of the Second Virginia Cavalry. After leaving College he engaged in teaching school at Fincastle, Va., but when the war broke out, he entered the Confederate army, where he soon rose to the rank of captain, and was honorably discharged. Then he returned to school work, entered the Insurance business later and continued in that, for the greater part, until his death. Major J. M. McCue in speaking of Mrs. A. McCue, said: "I know her well, she is a fine woman." Mrs. McCue's father was born in Boteourt county. Mrs. McCue was teacher in the Sabbath school in Staunton church as early as 1878 and probably before. ...
