Jost Leidig came from Berks County soon after the revolution and settled on the farm now owned by William Emrick. William Martz, also from Berks County, a millwright by trade, was amonth the first settlers. He built a mill on Gladden's run, at an early date. Valentine Shiery, a blacksmith, was another pioneer..
