SAC 66 page 119, Will of Nathaniel Moore of East Grinstead 2nd Dec 1765:
"I give and devise unto my kinsman Elfrid Staples and his brother John Staples for the term of their natural lives my messuage Farm and lands called Brockhurst now in the occupation of Edward Lucas and also all that messuage or tenement Barns and lands thereto belonging called Pawleys and Ashurst fields in East Grinstead now in the occupation of Michael Bromley the younger charged with the payment of thirds as I have lately paid same to Margaret the wife of Michael Bromley the elder. Remainder to my kinsman & heir at law Thomas Ward of Stretton near Burton on Trent Stafford Gentleman. Also unto Susanna Bromley, spinster, now dwelling with me my copyhold Messuage and lands in Buxted held of the Manor of Framfield in occupation of William Skinner." Also on page 120: John Bowra of East Grinstead farmer of Pawls Tenement or Pollys.
(A John Bowra was married to Mary Lucas d. of John and Elizabeth (Tooth) 1770)
